So…it was about midnight and I was watching The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Sweet Tooth on the food network and developed a hankering for a midnight snack. But, unfortunately I had already reached that point at which you’re body is starving, yet you are too exhausted to get up and go pour yourself some cereal. That is a foodie’s worst nightmare. To make matters worse, David Myers (chef in Los Angeles) started talking about this delicious Pain du Chocolat (basically a chocolate croissant). Oh…and this was pure torture, he explained this pastry like it was the last piece of food on earth. I developed a HUGE craving for this chocolate croissant, I was thinking “I MUST have this”. And just my luck, this croissant was sold in Tartine located in San Francisco! So…of course…I asked my grandparents to take me the next day. After, a craze of trying to find this bakery in the city we finally found it on the corner of Guerrero and 18th street. My brother and I were so relieved to finally get there and bite into that flaky, buttery, doughy creation.
thehungryrunner: Do you have any Pain du Chocolat?
thecashierlady: No, I’m sorry we don’t have anymore of those.
thehungryrunner: OH SNAP
But, as I looked around the bakery, I realized the Pain du Chocolat probably wasn’t the only delicious pastry there. So with no worries, I ordered 4 original croissants and a lemon-poppy loaf. Not Bad…
they were HUGE…left a bunch of crumbs
flaky, buttery, doughy…but…missing the chocolate
This was sooo good…not too sweet, plus I just love lemon AND poppy seed. GREAT COMBINATION.
