Continuing my review on the salads at Blue Barn located on chestnut Street in the Marina…

As a recap, visit part I & part II:

Blue Barn serves up many fresh salads and rustic sandwiches made from local artisan ingredients. It’s quite small in there and it’s usually really crowded, so be prepared and perhaps call ahead!

Since I have work in the Marina every weekend, I decided to try out all the salads on the menu and determine which one is my favorite! Warning you now, the artisan ingredients call for one pricey salad, ranging from $10-$14.

Most recently, I went with the Chinese Chicken Salad…

Their chinese chicken salad includes romaine lettuce, chicory chop, roasted chicken, oranges, carrots, snow peas, scallions, herbs, almonds, sesame noodles and soba noodles all topped with a sweet and sour vinaigrette. This was not one of my favorite chinese chicken salads. Of all time, my favorite would still have to be the chinese chicken salad from California Pizza Kitchen (that’s ironic). Blue Barn just lacked excitement, it was quite boring. At CPK, the dressing is very sweet and abundant, where as Blue Barn was a bit dull and barely there. Though I will say, the chicken was very plump and fresh and I did enjoy the unique crunch of the soba noodles (not Chinese).
