Due to winter break I was reunited with all my little college friends and we wanted to catch up over some good grub. So we decided to check out this popular location in Los Angeles called Bottega Louie, known for their splendid macarons and portobello fries. Located on Grand Avenue, this macaron haven is a crowded building where you can sit down and eat or take home some fabulous desserts!

With a dessert/cafe section in the front and an entire restaurant in the back, the place is quite big. As you look around you notice the crowd of waiters serving the filled up warehouse of hungry customers and the bakers moving from front to back with filled trays of pistachio macarons. With all this hustle and bustle, sound easily bounces off from wall to wall, so prepare for the noise! It was a great experience and I loved the atmosphere!

We heard the pizza was very good so we decided to share the margherita and the sausage pizza. They both had a crunchy thin crust with very vibrant ingredients. The basil was very fresh, while the sausage was slightly spicy. Perfect! It was very satisfying, yet not too filling for when it came time for dessert.

Despite the delicious pizza, the real reason as to why I was so excited to eat here, was because of their terrific portobello fries! What are portobello fries you may ask? Well…they’re the most unique, most delicious and most surprising food invention ever thought of! Basically they are fried portobello mushrooms cut like steak fries seasoned with what I am assuming some sort of salt on steroids, and garlic that is from out of this world. It was perfectly crispy, yet chewy on the inside! It was the perfect combination of textures! && to enhance the flavors even more, they were served with a garlic aioli on the side which was oh-so-fantastic!
